Looking for the best place to ride a Side by Side?

Side by sides (also known as UTVs) are all the rage. They’re a ton of fun to ride and way better than anything you can find at your local car dealership. But where are the best places to take them? In this guide, we’ll give you our top 5 places to go riding around the US!

Little Sahara Sand Dunes, Utah

You’re going to need a truck and an ATV, but don’t worry—there are plenty of rental options available. You can also rent dune buggies or motorcycles if you have a smaller group.

Once you’ve arrived and set up camp (or if you’re camping at one of the many nearby resorts), take your side by side out on some of the easier trails to get acclimated with driving off-road vehicles before tackling the more difficult ones.

Don’t forget to bring sunscreen!

Glamis Sand Dunes, California

Glamis Sand Dunes is a great place to ride side by sides. It’s in California, which means that it’s hot and sandy. The dunes are large, so you’ll want to bring plenty of water and sunscreen. Also, be sure to wear goggles or something else to protect your eyes from sand gusts as you drive through the dunes!

There’s a lot of wildlife here too—you may see coyotes and deer on your ride! Watch out for rattlesnakes though—they like hanging out in holes under rocks near trails. And don’t forget to have fun!

Sand Hollow, Utah

Sand Hollow is a great place to ride side by sides. The sand dunes are perfect for getting used to driving in sand, and the lake is fun to splash around in. The trails are well-marked and easy to follow, so if you’re new to side by sides, don’t worry about getting lost!

A good friend of mine once said that Sand Hollow is the best place for riding a side by side because “nothing beats those dunes.” If you’ve been there, you know what he means: it really does feel like an escape from normal life when you’re surrounded by miles of white sand as far as your eye can see. Plus, with ample room outside of the resort grounds where people don’t need reservations (plus no entry fee), it’s easy enough to just stop at any point along the way if you want some quiet time with yourself or friends out there on those dunes!

Red Rock 4-Wheelers, Nevada

Red Rock 4-Wheelers is one of the few places you can go to ride all year round. If you’re looking for some great off-roading, head out to Red Rock and see what they have to offer.

Located in Nevada, this place has plenty of trails and activities perfect for those who love getting their adrenaline pumping. There are many things that can be done here:

  • Riding through the desert
  • Riding on trails like Big Rocks, Little Rocks and Rancho Del Sol
  • A day trip into Las Vegas for some fun in Sin City (and maybe even a stop at Hooters!)
  • A day trip over toward Hoover Dam if you want to see something different from sand dunes!

Moab, Utah

You know what’s better than one awesome place to ride? Two. And Moab has both of those things in abundance. It’s a great place for side by sides, with hundreds of trails and places to explore. You can take off on your own or with a guide who knows the area well.

If you’re not sure where to start, there are plenty of outfitters in town who will help you get started.

Arapeen Trail System, Utah

If you’re looking for a great place to ride your side-by-side, Arapeen Trail System is an amazing choice. Located in central Utah, the network of trails is open to the public and offers both novice and expert riders a variety of different trails to choose from. The most popular trail is the “Challenge Trail,” which features plenty of hairpin turns and switchbacks for fun!
